I know it does not sound too appealing, but you still get to help create a production. You will definitely pick up on some tips while you are there. Productions are constantly over budget and many documentaries offer work for credit (credit i.e. experience). It may not lead to anything right away, but it will keep you focused on your outcome, get you some experience, and give the ability to meet people within your respective field.
